Day 75: March 15, 2016

My days off are always so very productive, and it really makes me feel like I'm an adult with my shit together. More so than going to work at my big girl job every day.

Yesterday, I went grocery shopping, did laundry, cleaned and vacuumed my room, and scavenged through my family's storage unit to find some things that I needed.

Today, I did a ton of meal prep for all of my lunches for work this week, and boy do I feel great about life.

The menu for the week is:

  • Chicken sausage stuffed with spinach and feta, with a side of Parmesan noodles
  • Couscous with ground turkey and sauteed asparagus and bell pepper
  • A side of sauteed asparagus
  • A side of strawberries
  • Pasta salad with chunks of cheddar cheese and salami, mixed with some zesty Italian dressing.
The great thing about it is that it only took me an hour and a half to make everything, put it all in containers, and wash all of the dishes!

I can't wait for lunch!

Day 74: March 14, 2016

You never realize how much stuff you use on a daily basis until it's no longer accessible to you. I have learned this through having 80% of my possessions kept in a storage unit.

Because of my family's current housing issues, we've had our stuff in storage for months now, and it's becoming increasingly difficult with each passing day.

I don't mean to sound like a spoiled, materialistic drama queen, but after a while, you just want your stuff. I want all of my pictures frames displayed, all of my clothes for me to pick through every day, and my movies to watch when Netflix is boring.

Every so often, I'll go to our storage unit and find something that I've been wanting or needing, and it makes me feel a little less stressed. Today, I went and finally got something that I've been wanting for months - my scarves.

I'm a huge believer in scarves; they can add a little something to a simple outfit without going over the top. I've never been a fan of jewelry, so scarves just work for me. I just haven't been able to find them in storage, and I haven't been ambitious or patience enough to look through 25 boxes to find them. But I finally did and I'm so very happy about it.

I also stole a tie hanger from bae to hang them on, since he doesn't have any ties. Works perfectly!

Day 73: March 13, 2016

Today was a gross dreary and rainy day. Definitely not my favorite kind of day.

But it was my Friday so I took the good with the bad.

I went down to the lobby during my break to walk around a bit, as I always do, and I heard a sound that was very unfamiliar.

Since it's Sunday, no one is ever in the building, so I was twice as confused about what the sound could be, until I looked up.

I realized that the sound was ginormous rain drops plopping onto the glass ceiling. It was a beautiful sight and a beautiful sound.

I stood there and watched and listened for a minute before I went on my merry way.

Day 72: March 12, 2016

I have a Dove chocolate wrapper that I've saved that says "Rock a bad hair day," and that's exactly what I did today.

I have wrapper hung up at my desk at work, so I look at it every day. I figured it would be a good one to keep.

I didn't realize what my hair looked like until I got to work. I knew it was a little messed up so I just threw a clip in it like I usually do and was on my way. Once I got to work, however, I realized that my hair was a giant poofball on my head.

Then I looked at that candy wrapper, and thought "screw it." I'm gonna rock it.

Day 71: March 11, 2016

Work was awful today

All of the customers I talked to were rude and annoying, and I didn't get anywhere close to reaching my conversion rate for the day.

Plus there was some high school competition in the building so there was teenagers everywhere

To add to that, I'm beginning the wonderfulness that is PMS. So I've been emotional all day long

The last thing I wanted to do when I got home was cook, and there wasn't much of anything for me to make anyway. I've been trying so hard to get healthier lately, but I made the executive decision to get McDonald's. I knew it was the only thing that would make me feel better after the crappy day I had.

It was worth every calorie and every ounce of saturated fat.

Day 70: March 10, 2016

I've been feeling pretty good about my food choices lately.

I've been eating fruits and/or vegetables at every meal, something that I've been striving for for a long time. I've also been snacking less at work, mostly because the fruits and vegetables have kept me feeling full longer.

I got coffee this morning at work (duh), and I got a bagel and cream cheese to satisfy my bagel hankering. Let me tell you, it was an amazing bagel.

I felt good about my breakfast today so I wanted to document it.

Day 69: March 9, 2016

The line today at Starbucks was ridiculous. Absolute insanity. So I decided to try the other coffee place that they have in my building.

It's not bad. Not my first choice, but it'll do. I got caramel iced coffee, and man oh man, was it sweet. It took me twice as long to drink as it does to drink any other iced coffee. Butbright side, I got the grande size and it was bigger than a Starbucks grande, and it was half the price!

Day 68: March 8, 2016

It was another beautiful, sunny day here in Michigan.

It was also super humid, to the point where I was hot and uncomfortable and couldn't cool off

After days of perfect weather, I finally convinced Ant to go for a walk with me. It was only a block to the 7-11 to get Slurpees, but it was definitely worth it.

Day 67: March 7, 2016

It's been amazingly warm this week and I am loving it.

Today, we had the doors and the windows open. The dogs laid outside in the sun. Anthony took his computer outside and used the air compressor to clean out all the dust. (Weird, but a big deal that it was warm enough for that.)

Hopefully this warm and sunny weather stays!

Please ignore the lovely trash can in the picture. It's the door that counts.

Day 66: March 6, 2016

I started my new schedule at work today. It wasn't very bad except for the fact that I had to wake up at the butt crack of dawn since the buses don't run as often on Sunday.

I'm really liking this 9:30-6 thing. It's a lot more mellow at work, whereas with my old shift, I came into work in the middle of the day when everyone was at their most active. It's pretty quiet for the first couple hours, which is nice.

The weather is getting warmer and I'm hoping that will hold out for a couple days while I adjust to my new bus routine.

Also, it's strange to eat lunch at a normal human time. Weird.

Day 65: March 5, 2016

I was waiting at the bus stop today, with more snow coming down yet again. I looked down and this perfect little snowflake landed on my lunchbox.

I've never actually seen a snowflake in a shape like that before, and it was a really amazing thing to see.

Day 64: March 4, 2016

Today was babe's first time getting froyo!

Everyone in this stupid town, aka my hometown, has this thing against froyo. They're most of a Coldstone crowd. I also get a lot of weird looks when I say froyo.

However, they did put an Orange Leaf right near me, and I finally convinced Anthony to go with me. I was definitely more excited than he way, but he still loved it.

I'm especially excited about my Orange Leaf loyalty card! Every dollar spent gets you a point, and every 10 points gets you a dollar off.

We can clearly see below which bowl is mine and which one is Anthony's. I'm obviously a froyo pro.

Day 63: March 3, 2016

Another successful day off in the books.

I spent a little while being an adult. I was on the phone a lot with debt collectors to set up payment plans to try to get all of my past due bills taken care. That was stressful, mostly because it's so hard to get through the automated phone system to actually be able to speak to a real person.

But after that, I did fun things like get Starbucks and go grocery shopping. I finally let myself buy the Angry Orchard that I've been craving for months.

It was nice to be able to end my day with my favorite hard cider and some good tv.

Day 62: March 2, 2016

This is me trying to get my life together. I'm struggling, y'all.

I got my schedule changed at work. Again. This is the fourth different schedule that I've had in two months. This one was welcomed, but that was with the hope that it would make my commute easier. But of course, with my luck, it made it more complicated.

As I've said before, I take the bus to work. It's not a bad commute, but it's clearly not ideal. I have to walk, or get a ride from my parents on a good day, a mile to the bus stop. It's then an hour-long ride to the end of the route, where I then have to get off the bus and get on another bus. After that, it's another 30 minutes to work. This is all for a trip that only takes 40 minutes by car.

With this new schedule, I will have to take up to three different routes throughout the course of one day. These sticky notes are me trying to figure out my trip to work and back for every day of the week.

It's stressful and I sure am struggling, but I'm just trying to make it through.

Day 61: March 1, 2016

Happy March!

I get random cravings for Flamin' Hot Cheetos, and today I got it bad. It doesn't help that I sat on the bus and watched a man eat a whole bag of them. After that, I had to get some.

So when I got off the bus, I went on a mission to get some Flamin' Hot Cheeots. I also got dark chocolate-covered cranberries (those are healthy, right?) and a jalapeƱo beef and cheese stick combo. Clearly the healthiest choice for snacks.

With my dinner, I then had buffalo cauliflower, and I can already tell that I'm going to regret those hot food choices quote soon.
